My first real instrument was a 3/4 sized Hofner acoustic guitar that had belonged to my dad when he was a kid, and it got me interested enough in playing music that I picked up the electric guitar when I was 11. Then about a dozen years later I developed an infatuation with the pedal steel guitar which continues to this day.

I’ve since played many hundreds of shows and have shared stages with Leslie Feist, Ron Sexsmith, Rufus Wainwright, Hawksley Workman, Serena Ryder, Jennifer Castle, Jill Barber, Rick White and many other brilliant musicians at venues ranging from tiny dives to prestigious concert halls.

While my musical focus is mixing these days, I still play pedal steel guitar regularly on sessions and occasionally live with artists such as The Duke of Norfolk and Vincent Bricks.

Drop me a line if you’d be interested in having me play on your next recording!

“I can't recommend him enough!”

Working with Stew is a serious treat. He brings strong intuition to every project and has a melodic and emotive style that goes beyond what pedal steel traditionally offers a song.
Professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. I can’t recommend him enough!
